About Optimist International
Meeting the needs of young people in communities worldwide, Optimist Clubs have been "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" since 1919. Optimist Clubs conduct positive service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. Club members are best known in their communities for their upbeat attitudes. By believing in young people and empowering them to be the best they can, Optimist volunteers continually make this world a better place to live. There are 114,000 individual members who belong to 3,500 autonomous clubs. Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects each year, serving six million young people. Optimists also spend $78 million on their communities annually.
We are the Dor-Wood Optimists and our motto is Friend of Youth.  Optimist District #24 - Ohio Optimist Club #24115 Chartered - May 1, 1965.  We meet at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering, Ohio every Thursday at noon to enjoy good food, listen to interesting speakers and share timely information. Our Optimist PRIME evening meeting is held the last Thursday each month at Buffalo Wild Wings, Town & Country in their Blazin Room, 262 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH at 6:00 PM.  Quick wit reigns supreme!
We have the reputation of being a fun club and it is a reputation we encourage. Our club offers a release from the stress and anxiety of the work day so we come to the luncheon meetings to relax and enjoy each other's company while doing good work.
