 “Continuing Education Scholarship Award”

The purpose of the Dor-Wood Optimist "Continuing Education Scholarship Award" is to recognize and honor graduating seniors living in Kettering and attending Kettering Fairmont High School or Archbishop Alter High School.
In establishing these scholarship awards, the Dor-Wood Optimist Club is attempting to encourage excellence in education and a spirit of volunteerism in the youth of Kettering.

In 2019 we amazingly will be giving six (6) scholarships:  three (3) each to Kettering Fairmont High School and Kettering Alter High School. Each of these awards will be a $2000.00 stipend to be sent to the school of choice. This choice may be a university, college, two-year college or trade school. The stipend may be used for tuition fees, room and board if living on campus, or books and supplies. This is a one-time grant and cannot be renewed.

GUIDELINES:
     1. Applicants must be Kettering residents, graduating from Archbishop Alter High School, Kettering Fairmont High School in 2019.
     2. Applicants must be in good standing in his or her high school with a GPA of 3.00 or higher, active in extracurricular activities, active in community service, and must be an all-around good citizen.
     3. Applicants are responsible for submitting the application form and written material for this award, so that it is received any time after March 1, 2019 and no later than Friday, March 29, 2019.


Late applications will not be accepted.


Entries must be received by Friday March 29, 2019.

APPLICANTS: Along with this application form PLEASE SUBMIT the following information, with your name in the upper right corner of each page.
     1. A brief type written Autobiography telling us why you believe you should be considered for this scholarship award.
     2. A listing of School Activities: Sports, Clubs, Offices you have held, Honors, and Other Extracurricular Activities
          or Events in which you have been involved.
     3. A description of any Volunteer Work you have done for your School, Community and your Church.
     4. A listing of any paid Work experience. 


Applicants, please feel free to submit UP TO TWO letters of reference from teachers, coaches, club advisors, clergy, employer, and / or community service agencies with this application.
